600rr PCIII/ sputtering issues...anyone?

03 600rr

PCIII, K&N and D&D Slip-on.

once bike is warmed up (doesnt do this when its cold), the bike will sputter and fall on its face(sounds like running on 2 cylinders) but once it hits 5k hold on, because it goes from 0 power to running in tip top form all at once, and revs cleanly all the way to redline.

Again,

1. only does this when warmed up, not cold
2. sputters till 5k RPM, then goes like a raped ape.

Im thinking about dl-ing a map and loading it in myself just to see if it solves the problem.

Is the PCIII mounted above your exhaust?

If so, you may have fried the PCIII... happens a lot to the bikes with undertail exhausts and PCIII mounted above. I've seen a few in the paddock have races ended early due to this issue- Diggler had a literal melt-down on his ZX6.

Oh yeah, try "Sea Foam" in the tank too- that stuff is magic!

Same thing happened on one of our guys '03 636, we spent days trying to figure it out. Turned out it was a faulty neutral safety switch on the kickstand. The spring in the switch had gotten week so under vibration it was cutting the motor on and off at a high rate of speed. Yeah, we all felt dumb. But you might check yours. It's easy, just bypass the switch for now and see what happens. If that doesn't work bring it by our shop and I'll let Leon put it on the Dyno for you. He's a genious on the Dyno.

try unplugging your PC3 chris....it's probably your main culprit.

we cut the neutral switch wire right?

edit: I think it was just the sidestand switch....

I think it really is the pc3 or something in the ecu, because it clears up exactly at 5k (same place every time, every gear.)

as long as I stay at 5000+ rpm....there isnt a problem at all.

Get your lazzy azz out there and suffer in the cold man!

Seriously though, if you want to bring it to my shop, we can run some diagnostics and find out whassup.

Check all the stuff I pm'd you about too. If you cut the side stand, they only need to be twisted together to complete the circuit, if that's what you did. Make sure it's taped off and not touching anything too. That goes for all the other electrical stuff that may have been removed/ changed as I mentioned in the PM.

Easiest to check as I mentioned is the PCIII- unplug it and run your stock ECU to see if that's the culprit

Ok, Riaz came over and we took the power commander off, SAME ...

now, what Im thinking is, one of the primary injectors is burnt up, or clogged, and about 5krpm the secondary's come on and im running on a good set. Does this make sense?

hmmmm.
