i wonder why they can't just hook it up to the sniffer, unless they require a scan thru the OBD-II port

most cars now a days have a fuse for the obdII port, check that if it's a newer toyota, we've had problems with the pins in the connector expanding and causing a loose connection.

i actually had this happen to me....check your fuses....it ended up being my cigarette lighter fuse, thats the fuse that connection uses. if thats out, you cant get a reading. thats what happened in my inspection.

yeah you got to get the obd2 port working, if your car is 96 or newer there is no way around that. We tried all kinds of stuff with my friend 97 civic and finally had to break down and change some stuff for it to work right...
Years ago before Montgomery did emissions i registered my vehicles out here to avoid it, then moved out here. But they are expanding the emissions area anyway, so now you have to be out in Waller or further out to get away with no emissions.

i second the cig lighter fuse when i can't get an obd to scan its because the fuse is blown
