All of the CMRA costs are on their web site.

You'll have to look at all the different classes you'll run and just add 'em up.

The cost per race goes down for the number of races you enter too.

Now that I've looked, I can't find the '09 pricing structure...

Prices didn't go up (that I know of). Big bike sprints are $75 for the first entry, $50 for the second, and $40 for subsequent entries. It cost $10 more if you enter at the track (hint: pre-enter to save a few bucks). Practice on race day is included with your entry, but open practice on Saturday is $35 when scheduled.. Mini sprints cost less than big bikes and endurance racing costs are per hour. If you want fee schedule now, go right to the source and email or call Nancy at the CMRA home office.

And to elaborate a little more...

Sprints are scheduled for 8 laps at OHR, HMRC and MSRC. They are scheduled for 6 laps at longer tracks like TWS (Texas World Speedway) and ECR. Sprint laps may get trimmed in the event of schedule running long due to unplanned issues such as crashes, track clean-up, lack of ambulances due to transport, extreme weather, etc. Sunday morning practice, which takes place at the start of the day, of course, consists of three scheduled rounds for each group (1 = LW, 2 = novice, 3 = expert). These sessions may get trimmed for the reasons above, too. Saturday open practice (when scheduled) takes place at the end of the day's schedule, and usually has two practice sessions for each of the groups mentioned above. Should Saturday practice be trimmed or eliminated from the schedule for reasons mentioned previously, you'd get a refund.

Nancy will be able to give you all the info you need, but I figured I would throw in my 2c...

Typical Weekend:
Travel Costs (food, gas, etc) - ~$200
Entry Fees - ~$250
Tires - ~$400
Friday Practice - ~$100

Plus the incidentals, figure ~$1000 per weekend as long as you aren't crashing...

Friday practice is a LSTD event, and those prices are different per track (see the sticky in this forum). It's not much different than a regular LSTD, the difference is that we don't provide a "C" group ("noob group") and you're out there with those who will be racing that weekend.

Most folks who sprint usually compete in 3-5 classes depending on what bike(s) they have.

yeah the trackday on friday is the practice right?
thats what i thought, but i thought someone said there was more going on after the event on friday.
but every time ive been there the EMS leaves as soon as the last session is over.
so basically practice is another trackday fee?
what about Hallet,no TD's there with LSTD?

LSTD does NOT hold track days at Hallet, maybe you can check the Hallet site to see who does hold a track day there but lstd does not travel there to hold an event.

The CMRA runs the "lapping day" at Hallett. It's orchestrated much more like a practice for the CMRA with bikes divided up between classes and expert/ novice. You still get some good track time in that way, but it's more complicated.

LSTD runs more like a track day, with a Expert group, Novice group, depending on the track we'll have a Mini group, and then we'll have a "Street group" for those that don't race but are A/B level riders.

The CMRA practice on Saturdays/ Sundays is included in your entry fees, and they don't charge extra for practice. The Friday Hallett practice is not included in your entry fees though, that is extra like the LSTD practice dates. As such, sometimes Saturday/ Sunday practice gets cut short if there are issues like crashes or issues on the track surface, etc. Usually though, Walter and crew make sure everyone gets as much time as possible to practice. Don't confuse it with the time you'll get on Fridays, 'cause it's not that much. I usually use the Saturday/ Sunday practices just to warm up, check suspension for the day, and see what the track looks like that day.

Just to clarify what Tom stated....if you pay for the Endurance race on saturday you are allowed to run endurance practice for free....if you want to run open practice on saturday before running sprints on sunday it is $35 to run the open practice on saturday.

If you are running sprints on sunday and have paid for a sprint entry then sunday practice is free.

3-4 sprint on Sunday plus endurance on Saturday. I think they have your Friday practice question covered already...

Of course, you have to factor in other to the overall cost of racing as well, such as bike maintenance, crashes, and medical bills (though hopefully you dont have too much in the latter!)
