you think tires for bikes are bad, those are lunch money to me compaired to what i pay for just the REAR 345/30/19 drag radials for the z0, over a G, and they last maybe 6 months if i drive the car on weekends, now that puts a dent in my wallet

tires are like highway robbery.

it works out good with me on tires, i buy all new race tires for my track bike, and when i am done with them, they go on my streetbikes, so essentialy i nevr have to buy tires for my streetbikes.

huh,6 months equal 8-12 sets or race tires at $380......$3040-$4560 and thats only one bike one race season.DOT's i think hold up well on the street, but for what i understand race tires build up heat too quick for the street and dont last long......i rather sell my take-offs and use a quality street tire for my street bikes.

.....well he was asking about tires for his streetbike, your not telling me anything i dont know, i have a race bike, and put new tires on it every 2 trackdays or each raceday, and i feel bad for you if your paying 380 a set of tires :0...you need some connections.

i run DOT race tires on street and track after having pilot powers fail/scare me numberous times on the street....

regardless, if your going to try and argue bike/car cost its no comparison, i have spent over 75K in my z06 in the past year, i could have a couple AMA bikes in my garage for that

race take off's can last a decent amount of time on the street. i used the same recycling method before when i still cruised the streets. now i just ride them til the DOT's look like slicks before i even THINK about taking them off and slappin new ones on.

race weekend = new rubber

trackday = race take off's, or whatever i can find in one of the tire vendors used tire stack.

alright, now i dont feel so bad.
i ran ONE set of bridgestone slicks(medium/soft) on my gsxr600 for 6 trackdays without a problem.could of gone longer but did not know where the limits of the tire wear/traction life.also matters if youre gonna actually race or just trackday-it........

Are you running 120/160 tires? I was thinking the Bridgestone GP250 slicks were less than $350/set. I know prices went up for '09 though.

The Bridgestone GP250 slicks are $350/set, but seeing as you can get so many trackdays out of a set........

2 trackdays and im done with my tires, maybe 3 for the front, but definently not the back.

as for oakhill, one trackday or race day is a set of tires there, that place eats up tires, but it has hella traction!

LOL,220 LBS 6' tall.
yes i am pretty slow,i could barely break the 2 minute mark at TWS (Texas World Speedway).(only been there twice).
my best at MSR_C has been 1:25.8,so yes i'm slow.
and maybe just didnt know any better as far as tyre wear on the slicks since they wore so evenly.
we took the Ty class together actually Max...
