It is normal for stop and go traffic, but on highway it should be around 160-180 depends on the weather. Use Engine Ice, it might lower few degrees.
Welcome.

Yea, I took the MSF back in September at Spring Branch ISD, and got my license a couple of weeks later...just took awhile to find a bike!

On a separate note, does $100/year sound reasonable for liability insurance only (from Progressive)? I was reading another thread, and a dude was getting full coverage for $89 from Wright Insurance! How is that possible with a "crotch rocket?" Is there a certain age you have to be (I am 27 already!).

Is this Dave? With the old BMW?

Haha, I remember riding around in the Yamaha TW during MSF...good times (I think I even got a 0 on the riding test)! Don't ya'll have an advanced rider course or something? I'll probably sign up for that too, once I get the hang of riding again!

Hey, what's up, Ed! I took a 50/50 shot, but I guess I hit the wrong person...always happens to me, esp on multiple choice

I know it's a long shot, but do you recall my friend Jordan who I took the course with? He's riding a SV-650 now. I'm the big chinese dude...we were the only ones riding the TWS (Texas World Speedway) because the other bikes were too small!

Cool, great to know a familiar face!
