I would have connected it with one more bolt through a wider base plate to ensure that it was more stable. Good idea though. Got my gears turning.

pretty good if u could mount closer to windscreen it would reduce windnoise and vibration try that and send me vid.

If you could somehow incorporate the screws to teh left and right of where you have it mounted, it would be more stable I think. Thats how mine is made and it is very stable.

Thanks alot for all the good comments and as for what i used

1 - 3" 10/32 machine screw
2 - 1" nylon spacers
1- 10/32 nylon nut at the base
1- 2 inch mending plate
1- 1/4" bolt
1- 1/4 inch nylon nut
and the gray wheel i stole off a tripod.

i will work a little more on it tomorrow to see if i can get more mounting points but for now it serves my purposes well and i can still open the tank with the camera on. thats what is preventing me from spreading the mounting points out.
