Did that guy ever think about maybe cleaning off his camera lens?

Anywho......I can't wait to see what Spies does this season. It might signal how soon he'll move to GP. Or that might be a premature assumption.........but it's bound to happen sometime. We all know he wanted to go to GP, but thought it better to spend some time in WSBK. Smart move......IMHO

I know that they took a lot of the engine design cues from the M1, you can certainly hear it in the exhaust note! It sounds a whole lot like the M1!

When I first watched this video, the old clip of Rossi testing the first gen M1 came to mind, similar sound indeed.

I would be surprised if it sounded that nice with stock pipes......

I rode with a buddy in NC who had a 04 R1 with full D&D pipes. Probably the best sounding liter bike I've ever heard. For what ever reason it didn't have that obnoxious D&D sound.......it gave me chills to ride behind him and listen to him light it up coming out of a turn and leave me on a straight.

The vids I've heard of the R1 with stock exhaust did not sound like these bikes AT ALL. They sound more like a mis-firing i4 or a v-twin that has an occasional mis-fire to me...

These WSBK clips are sweet sounding, especially compared to what I've heard of the R1 so far.

Sounds best when they're picking up the throttle coming out of low speed corners, I think. That bikes workin! Perfect gears, perfect tune, turn-by-turn adjusted suspension, what more could you ask for... Its a good ride.

Yes Sir,
the Big Bang engine came to BSB in 2005 in the hands of Tommy Hill and Sean Emmett.
Back to back tests showed it to be approx 1 second a lap faster than the "screamer"

British Superbikes 'Big Bang' Yamaha splits Hondas at top.
Tuesday, 15th March 2005

The HM Plant Honda of Ryuichi Kiyonari topped the time sheets closely followed by the 'Big-Bang' Yamaha of Sean Emmett, who only lapped 12 times to Kiyonari's marathon 58 in the first session of the Brands Hatch test.

Kiyonari put a great deal of time in on track setting a quickest time of 46.319secs on the Brands Hatch Indy circuit.

The debut of the 'Big-Bang' Yamaha came late in the one and a half hour session, but when it did it immediately showed its extreme potential by finishing the session, after only a handful of laps, in second place on the time sheets - only 0.357secs behind Kiyonari.

At recent secret tests in Almeria, the Virgin Yamaha team - with the help of Jamie Whitam - lapped the 'Big-Bang' engine R1 back to back with an even firing Virgin R1. The result was that the 'Big-Bang' engine consistently lapped over 1.5secs quicker than its normally configured counterpart.

Meanwhile, Michael Rutter took the third fastest time this morning with the second HM Plant Honda, while the Honda UK machine of Karl Harris was fourth.

Gregorio Lavilla showed his potential benefit to the Rizla Suzuki team by beating 2005 race rider Scott Smart on the morning time sheets. Lavilla set the fifth fastest time, with Smart close behind in sixth.

First session top ten

1. Kiyonari
2. Emmett
3. Rutter
4. Harris
5. Lavilla
6. Smart
7. Mason
8. Palmer
9. Wilson
10. Beumont C

Gotta remember the wsbk that spies is runnin has a race built motor with diff cams, and ALOT more compression. So an off the shelf bike wont sound like what you here on the vid. Just my 2 cents.
