Odd noises

OK this is my first bike, a 09 ninja 250. I just hit 568 miles tonight, but on the ride i noticed an odd noise. Between 9-9.5k rpm I noticed a rattly kind of noise.

The only way i know to describe it is the noise made by shoddy torque converters on the Ford crown victorias under heavy acceleration. Nothing appeared loose on inspection, the chain had about 1inch of play.

This was typically at around 60mph, and engine was warm for some time. Regardless the bikes going in for the 600mile service asap. Anyone have any ideas or experiances that might help?

Unless there's something loose or an obvious performance issue, it's probably nothing... but that's impossible to tell over the internet.

Take it to Motorcycles Unlimited, they'll take good care of you and can even deal with warranty issues if necessary.

Cool, was planning on checking by there anyway to slap on a exhaust/jet kit. Perhaps I'll just have them do all the work on it.

Edit: No loss in performance, it still gets going when i get the wild hair.. Also its barely audible, at first i thought it was my keyring rattling, but verified it wasn't. Just irritating atm.

when I bought my bike from the dealer it was fine, but after a few miles on it I started noticing a weird noise and not owning a bike previously didn't know what it was. when I took it to Motorcycles Unlimited to get the oil changed, they confirmed that it was the chain, probably a combination of it being wayyyy to tight and my not lubin it. always use lube. lubey lube lube. it's got so many uses.
