cranking/starting problem

hey moto heads here is the problem.. i have a 2001 honda f4i and it won't crank and start after riding for about 10-20 mins. but get this, if i let it sit for about 15 mins it cranks right back up and runs fine until i turn it off again.. any help is greatly appreciated..

so it is not even turning the motor over when you hit the button?

if the answer is yes it does turn the motor over but does not start, then open and then close the gas cap when it shuts down and try to start

your also saying that once it dies and you wait then restart that it does not shut off anymore, if so then hmmmmmmmm

NO IT DOESN'T EVEN TURN THE MOTOR OVER.. BUT IF I LET SIT FOR ABOUT 15 MINS ITS CRANKS AND STARTS. THEN WHEN I SHUT IT DOWN I HAVE TO WAIT FOR ABOUT 15 MORE MINS BEFORE IT WILL CRANK AND START AGAIN

sounds like a battery problem, mine used to do the same

MY BATTERY IS PRETTY OLD. ACTUALLY I HAD TO JUMPSTART IT THE OTHER DAY.. SO SHOULD I START BY REPLACING THE BATTERY.

also check your starter relay

sounds like a battery make sure your rectifer is making contact with subframe

Also clean your ground wires. One coming from the battery to the frame and also the starter ground
