+1 I might look at Sidi again bc of the replaceable sole feature.

No offense or anything, but do they pay you to say that? Seems like every post on here always ends with someone saying "go to Motorcycles Unlimited"

So either he's paying off the entire board, or...he's honest and does quality work. (Hint...it's the second thing)

I had a pair of Oxtar boots (which later became TCX) for several years and really liked them. I don't think you can go wrong with the TCX although I haven't seen the new ones in person yet. Anyway, they got worn enough to need replacing, and I couldn't resist a pair of Sidi Vertigo Airs when I saw them. They fit my foot perfectly (size 43) and the venting rocks when its hot out. They don't have as much ankle protection side-to-side as my old Oxtars (get the Sidi Corsas for that) but they have good protection front-to-back.

I've only briefly seen the Pumas in person. Seemed decent but I didn't spend much time with them because I already had new boots.

AHA, it all makes sense then...

I'll have to go check the shop out if I ever make it all the way out to that part of town, sounds like a pretty sweet place.

There is a lot of good that comes from Patrick's shop. He, like very few others in Houston, worked very hard to earn a reputation that keeps him in business and earning a great reputation.

He's not the kind of dude who gets off or annoyed when you stop by for advice. He also isn't the kind of dude who won't take the time himself or send one of his employees to diagnose your bike issue for free.

Lastly, he's always offered the best prices and customer service around on retail parts, and knows the stuff he sells very well.

So, when I advise folks to stop by his shop, it's something that I feel very comfortable with doing; 'cause I know that when they do, they're going to be taken care of and NOT gonna come back to me whining about how I steered them in the wrong direction.

Not everyone will shop there or use his excellent service department, but those that do are generally very happy in the end.

Right on Julie.

Trust me, with well over 25 years of motorcycling in Houston, I've seen the best and I've seen the worst- and there's a lot more of "the worst" out there. Patrick is at the tip- top 'round these parts

A Star's are bulky? What model do you have? The SMX Plus are definitely not bulky.

If you have a wide foot, the Sidi's will be a bad choice. I had Cycle Gear order me some in a couple different sizes. None of them fit me right. I guess the Europeans have little, narrow feet. I do wear a size 14 in american and have a wide foot. The A stars have lasted me a long time and I love them. About time for some new ones, though.

yeah i ended up getting a 25% discount with a $100 visa gift card. ended up getting the A* smx plus boots for $127. think that was pretty good. feel pretty good. i know sidi boots would have been the better choice but i know i would have never gotten them at that price. think im gonna have to raise the shifter though to get my boot under it.

I have the Sidi vertigo corsa...great protection. Crashed twice (one really hard where they took a direct impact) and they held up great, no broken bones (in my legs at least). With that said, because of all the external bracing, they get caught on the rearsets alot when I'm transitioning. I will try the A* or puma (probably these) next. They are much smoother on the inside of the ankle.

A star for me. I have the Supertech's. They are a lillt bulky, but not bad. I've crashed 3 times in them and yet to have a sprain or anything. (knock on wood). Oh BTW, I got them from Motorcycles Unlimited
