Anone on here want to help me replace my clutch? :)

I'm offering a case of beer to anyone who helps me do this! I'll be ordering the friction plates and springs soon so I'm going to need some help.
Just one question, do I need just the friction plates and the springs or both of those and the steel plates? It doesnt slip that bad so i think i just need the friction plates and sand down the steel plates with 600-1000 grit sandpaper?

Thanks guys!

Don't forget to order a new gasket.

Its worth $4 to not leak oil.

if the steel plates are discolored i would replace them. also check the cover plate for wear as well as wear on the fingers of the basket.

How many miles on the original plates? I would just sand the metals down about with some steel wool or similar. is it a wet clutch? if so put the fibers in a ziplock bag and put in a little oil and leave overnight.
I also would get the case gasket.
My 02 tho

If no one gets you taken care of, I can probably arrange to give you a hand if need be. I'm not super close, but if you can get the bike to my side of town I'd be glad to wrench on it for you. Just make sure you get a manual with all the torque specs and the like. I'd suggest new steel plates as well as fibers. Might want to hit up Motorcycles Unlimited for their opinion on new springs as well. Your manual should tell you the ranges in which the springs should be acceptable or replaced as well. Just let me know.

I bought friction and steel. Why waste time? Just buy and replace. I did springs, friction and the steel. I hope you have an easier time removing the old gasket than i did. It took longer to get the old one cleaned off of the cover than the clutch replacement.

take the discoloration off the plates with a wire wheel. easy. or a grinder with a roloc disc.
