big bikes

Why doesn't Yamaha make a 1300-1400cc sportbike to compete with the busa and the zx14?

Not enough market share. Suzuki and Kawisaki have that one covered so Yamaha puts its big bike investment in the V-Max.

Just out of curiousity, what do you hope to achieve out of this thread?

Why not ask your local Yamaha dealer? If they don't have a satisfactory response, climb the ladder.

I was hoping for an answer duh.
Just a thought floating around in my head so I figured I'd ask the community of riders.

After the busa was made in 99 there was an agreance to limit the size of the engines to protect street motorists. Well that faded over the years and the zx14 came into play.

Almost any magazine comparing the two when the zx14r came out will speak about this; infact I read that on someone's thread when they were comparing the zx to the busa.

If you really want to get productive; look at the significant increases in power available with the liter bikes since closed loop system was put into production. That power to weight is dominating especially in the slim size compared to the boats the zx and busa are on the track.

I rarely go over half throttle when riding on the street and hit full throttle a few times drag racing in third.

I can personally relate to this.

What is there to compete?

Yamaha = track
Busa/ZX14 = street/drag
