went down yesterday.

i was headed to a friends house across the neighborhood to take some pictures after spending an hour and a half washing and polishing chrome.

went through a gentle snake corner at about 35 and on the exit of the corner still leaned the bike wobbled a bit (there may have been gravel there typically is in my neighborhood) and so i tried to stabilize but when i did i was it was too late. i went over a curb and tried to stop it in the intersection but it was bouncing and wasnt working, i missed a light pole by about 6inches and was heading straight at an oak tree. i let go of the handle bars at that point and flew off the bike tucked into a ball covering my head and rolled into the street. the bike bounced in the yard again and hit the tree with the crankcase/bottom frame. the bike rolled over me while i was on the ground. i broke two bones in my left foot and bruised all of ribs and my back (i swear a rib atleast is broken) but otherwise i got REALLY lucky. i didnt have my helmet on which is a rarity for me but i figured it would be ok riding across the neighborhood. i learned a lesson there. im really lucky to still be here and it really opened my eyes and made me appreciate life a little more.

just be safe out there guys and ride some for me.

the gas tank
went down yesterday.
the handle bars
went down yesterday.
the leaky crankcase
went down yesterday.
the big rock i shot across the yard
went down yesterday.
the tree i hit
DSC0219deleted
where i landed. my feet were at the lower part of the dirt and the bike was a bit to the right of the pile you can see some scrapes on the pavement
went down yesterday.

and finally a look at how shiney the chrome was.
went down yesterday.
that light is now pointing straight down at the ground instead of up to the road.

as far as the cleaning rims, i washed them with soap and water and washed it off but no polish or tire shine went on them. ironic thing is a friend who was at the house said i should tireshine them and enjoy the wild ride. we all laughed and went on with life. it doesnt look too bad i saw it today when i got my insurance card outta it. on one hand i really dont want it to be totalled but if it is im not going to be sad because i was thinking about selling it around next riding season.

i also realized how lucky i am to be here still. be safe and wear your gear. i got lucky but you will never catch me on a bike again without one. and YES i will ride again.

it was probably 150 yards down the road from my friends house and they were outside and ran to help me. they basically picked me up and put me in a car and took me out. then walked my bike to my buddies house.

i was headed over there cause we were gunna take pics of our vehicles cause they were all cleaned and shined up.:(
