Any idea what bike or rider? Probably know them if it was that area. I'm just waking up and am curious who.

I just finished up that one, and yes it was burned up. Never would have thought that a swingarm and wheel could melt so easily. I even took a few pics. Luckily that rider had gear and walked away with a few scrapes.

I am assuming fuel fire. Based on this assumption, the temperature of a fuel fire depends on what part of the flame you measure, and how big a fuel the fire is, but the hottest part of the flame in a large gasoline fire (and the highest expected consistent temperature) should be somewhere around 1650 F with fluctuations measured of up to about 2280 F.

The melting point of cast aluminum is about 1220 F. Tire rubber's melting point is far lower.

Given the right fuel fire and placement of items on that fuel fire, you're gonna have melted metal.

! Glad to hear the rider was wearing his gear and made it relatively unharmed. Sucks about his bike though.

I cant find cable for my camera. But just picture a big pile of ash with a burned up motor in the middle of it. Now picture that in the left lane of the west loop n/b at post oak.

I asked him what happened and he said he just "lost it".
A traffic enforcement unit was running radar a few hundred feet ahead of him stated that he clocked him doing about 65-70, nothing serious. The officer said it looked like the rider got startled when he saw him and grabbed an assload of brake lever and did a superman impersonation over the bars. The bike slid a ways and promptly decide to roast itself of the side of the fwy.
