Just take your old one off and wedge a screwdriver in there I promise it will stop making the noise you discribed.

when i had my f4i i had to change out the cam chain tensioner. Honda came out with 4 or 5 different versions. The one i got was the latest one which i think was indicated by two or 3 blue markings on the top. I installed it and it worked like a charm. If u go with a manual one then u have to stay on top of it and becareful not to over tension it and cause premature wear and whatnot.

I would go buy a new Honda tensioner and put in it. A manual tension is pretty much fail proof on its own, but its the adjustment thats a PITA.....You adjust it too tight, you wear out the guides and can cause the chain to snap(wasting the motor).....Get it too loose and the chain will rattle and potentially jump teeth on the sprockets, once again wasting the motor.... There is a trick to adjusting it correctly....everyone has an opinion on how to do it but.... Stick a stock Honda tensioner on it and be done...... Thats IF the tensioner is your ticking noise and not the valves themselves.
