His traich tube was downsized yesterday, and they hope to have him able to talk by the time they open his jaw in a few weeks.

He should have the cast off his right hand next week. Things are healing just fine.

His physical therapists have been working with him daily. He is able to sit on the side of the bed, but still needs someone to steady him. Once he has his balance, he will be able to ride in a wheel chair and start using a walker (one that keeps the weight off his right pelvis). At the rate he's been going, hopefully it won't be long!

Great news all!! Kyle is coming home on MONDAY!!! The case worker for the rehab facility has been working closely with our case worker from the insurance company and they have decided that his progress has determined it is time to move to the next level. They have ordered his wheelchair and walker and the referral to the out patient facility is in. We are still waiting for word on appointment with the ENT on his jaw. Kyle has been working really hard in his sessions. He continues to amaze us with his recovery.

He will be able to use his walker around the house and will have a wheelchair for transporting and being out of the house.

That's all for now, we'll post another update soon.

Wow, those were some serious injuries. From a biker brother that knows the dangers, glad everything is coming along as well as can be expected...

HELMETS can save lives, but they sure don't guarantee anything against dental injuries. I'm feeling for the pain my cousin has yet to endure.

Kyle is home and has been resting and doing his exercises. We should hear from the out patient facility this week and get his schedule for his program. Kyle has a bunch of doctors appointments on the calendar and we are all busy juggling schedules.

Kyle got the wires cut on his jaw yesterday. It was a very painful experience for him and for us to watch. He also started picking pieces of his teeth out of his mouth. We knew he had some issues with broken teeth, and we have made an appointment with our family dentist for today, and should know the extent of the damage later on. Unfortunately, he is still waiting for that first solid meal!!!!

It looks like we can add extensive dental work to Kyle's list of repairs. We went to the dentist yesterday afternoon for an evaluation and he is going to need 6 or 7 crowns, possibly 1 implant and possibly a couple of root canals. His teeth took a pretty good hit and has a number of broken and cracked teeth. His jaw still hurts but is loosening up a little each day.

Another Update

You know things are improving when we can wait a month between updates!!! Kyle is doing well. He still has some extensive dental work ahead. He had his "Big Test" for neuro and phsyc and his weak areas have been more defined. They have suspended his physical therapy until after his next ortho appointment, hoping that he will be able to start jogging and they can work more on his muscle rebuilding. He still has a few items he hasn't tried to eat, and he just found out that he will require at least 1 root canal on his teeth. Ouch!! The occupational therapist is going to order up a driver training eval, to see how close he is to being able to drive. That would really help with all his appointments.

Thanks to all who have hung in there with us. We'll post another note soon.
