My cousin went down....hard

Guys & Gals,

Just got word from my dad that my cousin, Kyle, was involved in a serious motorcycle accident last night in Spartanburg, SC. List of injuries is pretty long and he and his family could use some prayer. He is in a hospital in Spartanburg, S.C., but they donít have the necessary doctors or tools reqíd to get him all sewn up. Heís 19 yrs old so hopefully he can overcome his injuries.

Hereís the list I got from my dad:

-Fractured Pelvis

-Pelvis caused a tear in his femoral artery (almost took his life)

-Swelling of the brain (even though he was wearing a helmet)

-fractures in his ankle, foot, and wrist

-Damaged Spleen

-bruised lung

They will be transferring him to Greenville, SC sometime today (if they havenít already) to begin surgeries. He was unconscious when they found his body, but has since woken up. Dad said he was moving around a lot so they have medically induced coma to get him to relax. Please keep him in your prayers guys.
Thanks,
DBuck

Prayers sent. Sorry to hear your family is going through this. The injuries all sound treatable, I'm sure he'll come out better than ever!

that sounds pretty awful dude, do you have any more details on how it happened? like if there was a cage involved or anything like that?

sorry about the bad news, i hope he gets back to normal real soon!

edit: with brain injuries like that, that helmet saved him for sure! +1 on wearin your lid!

I believe so, but not 100%. My dad couldn't answer all of my questions, but I would assume so since they medically induced coma to get him to stop moving around so much.

I hate to hear this bro, but at least it looks like he'll make it out.

Your family and your cousin have my prayers.

Side note: The phrase "medically induced coma".....scares the bageezus out of me.

He's a lucky guy to live in 2008 with modern medical care. Best of luck to him and his family.

riding over his head around a corner...isolated incident, no cars involved. Dad was drilling it into his head last year to buy a nice helmet and not "skimp", apparently he took his advice b/c dad said he was asking about his $500 helmet. Like that is of any concern right now.
