Bombshell - Rossi Challenges Bayliss

A direct quote from Eurosport.com

Quote:
Here's what the publication has apparently run as direct quotes from Rossi himself: "If there was an opportunity and the right date then I would race there tomorrow. I like World Superbikes to be mad, I like to watch it and I'd love to ride in it, the problem is the dates.

"I do not know when, but I hope that I can make a race in WSB. I am sad that I would not be able to race against Bayliss on track now because I would like to challenge him on a superbike. Maybe, if I ask him he might even come back for one race for the challenge."
This would truly be epic if it happened!!

haha Rossi would hand Bayliss his austrailian ...

If Bayliss is as smart as his riding is - he'll stay the puck away from that challenge.

Rossi has destroyed Biaggi, Sete G, and now the recent Stoner's winning streak/reputation.

Bayliss is safe as long as he does not get on the track with Rossi.

I wouldn't completely write off Bayliss.

He's had more time with that specific class of machine, so it wouldn't be anything new to him. But that doesn't necessarily mean that Rossi would have any problem keeping up, or dusting the out of him.

It would have to be a track thats new to both riders........or atleast one where neither of them has had more than 2 weekends on. I'm putting my vote in for MSRH...... I don't see any problem with them coming into our backyard and putting on a show. Right???

Whatever Moe. Could you climb any further up someone's ?

I'm a Rossi fan too, but for 's sake, it's a p*ssy move on his part IMHO to make a "challenge" after a guy's retired

Rossi had a chance (on more than one occasion) to "hand Bayliss his " in MotoGP. Didn't always work out so well for Rossifumi.

As we all know, after a few decent, but not stellar years in MotoGP from 2003-2005, Bayliss went back to WSBK in 2006. In a wildcard ride in the final race of 2006, Bayliss had a runaway victory on the MotoGP Duck in a race that didn't matter for the c'ship (his only win). He said the MotoGP bikes didn't suit his riding style, and that he likes the more flexible feeling that a WSBK gives him (MotoGP bikes are too stiff).

I'd like to see Rossi on a WSBK. He's a MotoGP , of course, but is that enough to be on a WSBK when the machines are so dissimular? I dunno.

In any event, both of these guys are freaking awesome.

Oh jeez, this is publicity and would be a great thing for WSB and the companies these riders are associated with regardless of who were to win or lose.

I would love to see this!

.... and to see it here in the US!

Just put them both on pocket bikes and have them duke it out in a Wal-Mart parking lot.

+1 I would be willing to bet that Rossi was wanting to race someone that would challenge him and Bayliss has that rough fight to the end mentality on track.

Maybe I'm reading it wrong, but does'nt seem like Rossi is saying that he would beat Bayliss, just seems like he would like the oportunity to race with the best SBK has/had to offer.

I would soo loooooooove to see this happen though.
Would be epic indeed.

Chances are probably pretty slim that this would actually happen.

I'm sure Rossi is under some sort of contract with FIAT Yamaha, not allowing him to ride with any other team, and especially on anything other than a Yamaha.

Bayliss could have gone another few seasons, he definitely had it in him. But IMO, he should just leave it where it is and stay in retirement. Go out on top......not too many people get that opprotunity.

What are you talking about?

When Bayliss was at the highest level of racing (his motoGP) he could'nt beat Rossi - why would Rossi challenge him then when he was busy cleaning up Biaggi and Sete Gibernau?

Rossi still isn't challenging him in a disrespectuful way, he's just saying he'd love to ride WSBKs, but their schedules don't agree (MotoGP & WSBK), he then further on says he'd love to race Bayliss.

Do you really think Rossi fears Bayliss? You gotta be sh*tting me.

Remember this is the same guy that has beaten the best there is since the past 5 years, that also on inferior machines.

Bayliss is on the top dawg machine in WSBKs beating guys "not so talented or good as the MotoGP guys".

I wasn't talking about him and his comments you , I was talking about you and your comments. Re-read your first post, then, read your second post in this thread where you crawfish.

And yes, was it 2007 when Bayliss beat Rossi on the Duc? Or 2006?

For you to get all bunged up because of this is really humorous, please continue. Noob.

I gotta agree
this has been taken out of context,
Rossi has long been a fan of Bayliss and was paying him a compliment,
abit like bayliss saying he'd love to take on Shwantz on a 500cc,
it's not going to happen, has nothing to do with the the racer being retired and everything to do with respect for that rider IMO.

Thank You, I'm glad someone sees the light.

It did happen once though , Stoner winning in 2007. He had a Shirt on his leathers with his idols on it, and Rossi was on it as well.

However I don't think Stoner likes Rossi after Laguna Seca this year
