Police vs Yamaha

I debated posting a thread about this the first time it happened but then it happened again last night so here it goes.

Last Wednesday I was riding my bike (07 R6) down 1960 around 730ish pm. I'm in the far left lane at about ~30mph (I'm slowing down for red light) A constable in the opposite lane turns his lights on, makes a u-turn, and pulls me over.

Constable: "License + Ins please"
Me: "Here you go sir"
Constable: "Do you know why I pulled you over?"
Me: "Not a clue to be honest, I couldn't have been speeding cause we're at a red light and there are cars in front of me"
Constable: "One of your headlights are out"
Me: "No sir, that's how Yamahas are built. Look (I flip on my high beams and show him that only one side is lit in normal operation)
Constable: "Oh ok, well get that checked then"
Me: "That's how they come, unless you want me to ride with my high beams on all night"
Constable: "well be careful out there"

He didn't apologize for his mistake and let me go but he wasn't rude either so its all good.

Well same thing happened to me last night, exact same situation, but different location, so I figured it would be a good question to post.

Any other Yamaha riders encounter the same problem??

For those not familiar with what I'm talking about, only the right headlight goes on, left is high beam only

The Humble Police officer that got me last night at least admitted that he didn't know that and that he will keep that in mind in the future

it's more than just yami's... cbr's do it too and some others...

just keep your cool if he pulls you over, and be respectful and they will realize their mistake and let you be on your way. every cop doesn't know everything about bikes. now they know and won't waste anyone elses time for something like that again.

Or pretend they don't know just to have an excuse to pull you over and check license, endorsement, insurance, lic plate stickers, etc.

Never had a cop pull me over for the headlight thing.

BUT during bumper to bumper traffic, this lady pulled up next to me screaming, "HEY, ONE OF YOUR HEADLIGHTS ARE OUT!"

i lold

and said, "the other headlight is for the high beams."
She goes on saying, "Oh, thats right the new ones are like that."

that's what I figured, plus it's the end of the month too. But no worries cause I got all the papers/license/stickers. I even have a helmet exception too (I still wear it tho so no flaming)

the BMW Z8 has only one reverse light. the other lense is for the reverse foglight and isn't used in the states.

gets customers all the time.

Haven't encountered anyone pulling me over for one headlight. I rudely drive with the high beams on all the time. It let's fools know I'm around.

good way to go from not getting a ticket for anything to getting a rediculous one for something he makes up. most cops are cool if youre cool to them.

suzuki bandits are like that too. i used to have harley riders tell me my light was out all the time.

Most cops will respond nicely with just a warning if given respect and no attitude.

It's worked for me plenty of times. You have to remember, cops are in a thankless job and all they have is people that lie, disrespect, and give them attitudes all day long.

Cops are f*cking id10t's. The law states bikes only have to have 1 light up front, reguardless if equipped with 2.
