Moto GP Shifting vs. Street Bike Shifting

Why is it that street bikes shift 1 down and 5 up while Moto GP shifting shifts 1 up and 5 down? Whats the point of having the two different? Why not have street bikes come with Moto GP style shifting stock?

for one, it's all preference.

GP Shift is easier to upshift in a corner because your foot isn't under the lever.

Search noob. lol.
