Well I figured I might as well make the investment and purchase good gear the first time around. Safety is one of my biggest concerns so that would be one less thing for me to worry about.

Yes, my gear may cost more than my bike, but I'm starting on a beater one. Will get another one in future.

plus knee guards/riding pants or inexpensive lower leathers.

and underarmour if you want the leather to feel like textile when you ride.

I have UnderArmour Coldgear already, but will pick up some Heatgear when the time comes.

Need to do more research on riding pants. Will also compare RC-1 with MX-1. From what I read I thought the MX-1 vents better. I haven't had a chance to stop by a local shop to try it on yet. Waiting till I get my next day off work.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Motorcycles Unlimited has riding pants very well priced and no more expensive then brand name pants.

As for warm gear... when the leathers/jacket/thermalunderwear gets cooled, its over. Being warm isn't an option.

you are making a very good decision buying top of the line gear from the get go. it sure beats buying cheaper gear that wears out faster and then having to buy things multiple times in the first year.

I think it's well worth the investment.

Finished my MSF course this weekend. It was a blast. My instructor was Santa Claus!

Will slowly buy gear until I move at end of January since I have no place to keep a bike right now. Really looking forward to it.
