reccommend a cheap scooter?

this is not for me.
my wife wants a scooter. she likes the ruckus and saw a zuma today. and i guess liked it.
what would be a good scooter for a beginner wuss to ride?
she wont be doing any freeway riding, but being able to get to at least 55 would be good.

also, what is the legality on taking a kid on a scooter/motorcycle? back in the day my wife and i both went on small rides around town with our dads. she was on her dad's motorcycle and i was on my dad's lol moped. just to go around town and get small groceries and whatnot. can this type of thing be done in this day and age or would society collapse? this would most likely be just a few blocks from where we live to the park or a corner store

I'm almost 100% sure you have to have a liscense to operate a scooter on public roadways, and insurance too. passenger law(s) are still the same as any motorcycle, passenger needs to have a helmet unless they're old enough (18+), and the driver needs to be over 21 for the passenger to not wear a helmet.

I'm not 100% sure on my answer but I think it's correct. Hopefully you don't let your kids or anyone else ride on the back as a squid though!

If the scooter is 50 or more cc's OR goes faster than 35 mph, the exact same laws for motorcycles apply.

Texas law doesn't see a difference between scooters/motorcycles.

Same motorcycle license, same helmet laws, same passenger laws, etc.

Honda Ruckus for the MF WIN!

a zuma would be nice too, but it's still a scooter. A ruckus is a ruckus, not a scooter.

keep an eye on craigslist. an old honda elite 80 will do the trick, and it should have Honda reliability if it's been somewhat maintained IMO. The ruckus is a kick scooter, but that lil ruckus won't get you anywhere near 55MPH. Older 80's-90's Honda scooter can be found for less than $1000 if you look. Hope this helps

I had one of the knock off 150's and it was awesome. Head to Harwin and pick one up for a G.

I've heard Suzuki makes a really good scooter, I think they call it Hayabusa or something like that.
