I haven't had to use mine yet, but from what I've read they hold up pretty well.
I think there's a video on stuntlife of a guy kicking his bike over just to prove how strong those cages are

Actually, if you bent the cage with it on the bike it will still fit back on. Only way it would not fit is if you bent the cage with it not on the bike.

You guys gotta learn that if you drop your bike hard enough something will give. If the cage doesn't give then it will break your frame and that is way more expensive to fix.
