When Logan was really young we used a harness designed for snowmobiling that works just as well on the bike. Now after several years of riding with me he holds himself on. We don't go ride the twisties. We just putt around and enjoy each others company.

when I was 3 my dad strapped me to the front plate of his hodaka super wombat and I sat on the front fender. apparently, I thought this was the most fun ever, and it clearly stuck. nowadayd cps would have tried to throw him in jail for that, but it was cool then.

I go riding with my daughter on my bike. I bought her a KLX-140 and one of the 110cc pocket bike to ride around on. She loves to go riding. My wife and I have decided that we will join the Katy track to get her some time riding there in the spring. She is 11 now and had been riding on the back for about two years now. She wants me to get a cruiser so she can wear leather like the Harley riders in the neighborhood.

As far as risk is concerned, if you can't accept the risk of your child on the back of your bike then don't do. If you can't accpet the fact that one day you will go down on a bike and possibly die, don't do. You must measure your personal risk factor against your possible loss. Everyone does.
If it isn't worth it, don't do it.

If you have a kid that:
-Can touch the passenger pegs fully
-Understands that unless he/she holds on to the rider and follows the rules the rider sets forth there'll be no more rides

Don't carry a child.

This was an issue back in the early 80s when I began riding with my young son, but he followed the rules (thus able to also ride his PW50/KX80) and will always be an issue. Basically it depends on the kid and a hopefully responsible parent.
