They're poser-ific.

That's it.

If they were better, they would be on the new crop of sport bikes. Even Ducati doesn't use them anymore. The Honda VFR800 still sports a single-sided swing-arm, but it provides no performace advantage. It's heavier and flexes more than a typical swingarm. The only real advantage is tire changes.

I built a single swingarm on my chopper, I can tell you, as beefy as it is, it still has flex and I don't like the feel.
It looks wicked mean, but rideability does suffer, and its not a corner burning ride either like a sport bike and stress they would induce on that arm.
