now that i'm on my computer, and not my phone. and in alittle better mood.....

sorry for being a . i dont take well to smart comments with no backing.

this is a thread about cmra not being at angleton in 2009. and as i planned on racing next year, and with that being my home track, it directly affects my want to race cmra. so i read all there was to read on the CMRA boards and concluded my opinion of the CMRA just not wanting to go there because they will not profit off it. if someone (like chris) wants to show some reason behind a post that might sway my opinion, then thats awesome, post away. but pointless smart posts dont help the thread.

now back to the task at hand.

again, i understand that the CMRA might not make as much off going to MSRH. but i highly doubt they wouldnt at least break even. but ofcourse i would have to see some real $ figures to know that along with some real attendance figures for like the last 3-5 years for said track. only then can anyone say the CMRA is losing/making $ off that track.

so ya, there are more of my pennies, even though i said i was done. I would of been done, if people could read and post real replies. but obviously people cant read and dont want to post reasonable replies with anykind of facts backing what they say.

Fact: CMRA is not racing in Angleton because of $.

Fact: I'm butthurt because of it.

If you want to race CMRA, then race. Even if the CMRA did come to Angleton this year, it would have been 1 round out of 10 (or 9, can't remember).

As said, the CMRA is planning for the future, and last year, Angleton was the lowest attended event and LOST money. Not a good thing for a non-profit org that has to run a zero balance, right? It's an easy decision to cut the venue that is the most expensive and was the lowest attended the previous year, right?

I think Nancy made a great point when she said, "In 2008, we had races on Easter, Mother's Day, Father's Day, July 4th, Aggie Football Weekends, etc. All the other race weekends had better attendance than MSR Houston. Not sure why; just a fact."

And Barry said, " I just think more of the South Texas Contingent could have showed up holiday or no. It's kinda like all of those classes everybody wants, then when they are created and put into the schedule, no one shows up to race them."

Nancy runs the office and handles the money; she knows what makes and loses money, Barry is an official and has unique insight to the organization as well.

Nobody said that the CMRA is never going to run that track again, just can't do it this year.

Why in the world would you ask someone to sacrifice fiscal health in order to satisfy a very small contingent of folks that want to race near home? Doesn't make sense. Not to mention I can't understand what makes people think that the CMRA is getting rich off running a racing organization anyway.

Like some others, I'd like to only drive 30 minutes to get to the race, but looking at the big picture, it's not worth it.

no doubt, forme its actually better cuz that was gonna be the furthest track for ME.i will drive 9hours to hallet,8 hours to TWS (Texas World Speedway),5 hours to ECR,8 hour to OHR and 4.5 hours to MSR-C.so to some of us believe it or not makes no difference.still wish we would go and race at harris hill road though....

I've yet to ride there, but from what I've heard, it would be a big hassle there even if it were possible to get that track on the schedule.

Besides the fact that the owners don't want racing there, the paddock is not nearly big enough for a CMRA event.

i konw, wishfull thinking on my part,i've yet to be there also.
but it would attract more new members/racers if there were more tracks to be ran.this is just my opinion looking in from the outside.if CMRA is smart about how they spend their money, maybe one day

You know i wonder when they are going to repave Houston. I mean it has been a while and it needs it. It has alot of rich members with farrari and lambos and stuff seems like they would complain to mgmt for a repave. I remember riding on that track before the stupid miatas tore it up it was sooo awesome. I mean I still like it but it is rough and I have the keyhole now where I use to like it alot. I always ride the concrete I just can't seem to get a good line inside and I hate drag'n knee in the grass.

All this negative talk seems a bit interesting from my perspective. How many have been an active participant & made every race for the last 3yrs?not too many I'am sure. How many active members voted for board members & communicated their desires?Seems like a few people here just want to cherry pick at their home track for their own benefit.Fast guys are fast everywhere, not just at 1 track-come on out, support the cmra,do a whole season & let your results speak for themselves.I have been a part of quite a few racing org's in my time-even some national ones & the cmra is no doubt one of the best.Times are tough everywhere & you can't make everyone happy all the time, but they're doing the best they can to make sure the club survives.

There are lots of us that make every race. Just not on this board.
There are a few of us EX CMRA Board members on here as well. Current too.
