cant you just take the money they give you....replace the parts that you need, and then keep the rest as profits? if its just htose parts that you need, then thats what i would do/

If they total it and pay you off then they will own the bike and you will have to buy it from them.

I feel your pain, same thing happened to me the day before Thanksgiving. But I got about $7k in damage. But like you, all cosmetic except the from forks and and a missing foot peg. His insurance totaled it and paying me off. Luckily the bike was paid off. I asked about the buyback and it is $750, but it will have a salvaged title, so opted out on that off.

Yeah my ZZR was totaled out too. Kinda surprised me seeing as it was such a low speed tumble. Still it rolled and landed just about the worst way possible. There insurence wanted like 3'000 for buy back. Wasnt worth it to me for a bike that would cost more than that to make ridable again.

that sux man but if you price all of that stuff new i mean i dont know what all cosmetic is broke but those farings are hella expencive, the head lights is way way up there...ANd the forks are very expencive fromt the factory as is the rear wheel....PLus thats not even instalation.....NOw you coul buy the parts aftermarket and used and do it a whole whole lot cheaper but they can not do that....

If u buy the salvage back and u have the title then there will not be a salvge title..The Insurance will only request to see thhat u hace the title and then pay u off minus the buy back price .....this is only if u have a clear title..

On another note alot of Ins adjustor's total bikes very fast b/c they have little knowledge of cost on them...most handle cars only..It's also involves less paper work to total the bike quick and easy..for the adjustor..He only want's to close his file asap...So many of them get away with totaling bike out that are still good due to their lack of knowledge....

i would take the money and do what ever but it only bein a year and a half old i still owe on it...so what im goin to do is have them subtract the buy back out of the total and write a check for the differance...two reasons one said by runner and two if the insurance company doesn't pay the full cash value of the bike then they are not required to report it to the state as totaled so there is a chance that the title will stay clean....so out of pocket i go a buddy that has complete fairings, a headlight, rear wheel and some other stuff for 500 bucks...so as soon as i come up with that all i have is time

Let me know when you want to do it Clint and I will help you put it back together. I would say Heath too but you know how his lazy is. By the way how is Tim doing? I haven't heard anything since his wreck.

Oh hey they do still report it it just makes the title state it different. As in salvage rebuildable to salvage total. But your plan would still be better for you because you would come out cheaper with the bike in a long run. Besides I am sure there is some other Knight Rider you want to do to it anyway. Now is the best time.

Tell them if something isn't done by a deadline you are going to have your lawyer contact them. I went through that with an insurance company when my truck was totoalled, and three weeks later they give me my check and they took my truck two days after the wreck. But I would even call a lawyer and see how much he would charge you just to send them a letter. But anyway let me know when you get the money and the parts and I will help you fix it. I might be having to get rid of mine after the divorce. I am going to have so many bills it isn't funny.
