Bolivar Island open

FYI, the ferry to Bolivar is now open to the general PUBLIC. IE: if you want to check out the damage on the island you may do so now. Yes bikes included. Would make for an interesting ride, very sad but...a need to see.

Bike ride would be cool. I know it's sad but I would like to see what's left. I had a friend that had a time share there and I'm sure it's gone big time.

BP

Same here, my family and friends stayed there so many times....I need to see it. We should hook it up this Saturday or Sunday take rollover pass back out to Houston I-10 east Winnie and speed star back to Houston. Will be allot of people (other sight see'ers) this weekend so it should be an early ride...weather permitting.

If you have a dual sport you could take old washed up highway 87 to Sabine Pass. That's an interesting 20 miles of no man's land...

How do you get there, going south out of Winnie?
I might be down for an adventure ride.

I did it last year on my Hayabusa and it was interesting. But the places where the road had not completely washed away were a PITA bacause it was rocky and sandy with sharp edges where the pavement started and ended.

At no point on that stretch did I get it over 25 MPH. Too much debris from the old highway. Bottomed out about 20 times. And almost got stuck in some of the softest sand ever.

Me and a couple buddies are probably going to do that route and on to Lauberge sometime in the next couple months, but I'd be interested in joining if some people were going some weekend (well if it's the 2nd or 4th weekend of the month).

I know thw Winnie route is of course still open (to bolivar), however when you get to rollover pass 1/2 the bridge is down so...it takes time. If we go to the ferry from galveston we can check the place then go out rollover for the ride back to Houston. I think I am going to do it Saturday morning befoe the crowd hits.

I kinda want to see it but I work in Galveston so I have been dealing with people who have lost so much since the storm and its been pretty tough. It sucks just being in Galveston still not being able to get certain things. Like today the power on the whole island went out for about 15 mins not going to kill me just annoying.
