Maybe it's just luck of the draw, but both true cohiba cuban cigars I have ever had were the smoothest, compared to the 10+ other brands I have tried. I assumed this held water for most people that have had the luxury of a true cuban cigar.

there is a us embargo against cuban cugars purchased anywhere in the world by american citizens. so yes, I missed out on this luxury.

Since when? when my parents took a cruise down to mazatlan mexico, my dad had no trouble bring a box back. This was about 3 years ago.

fuentes that i have tried seemed harsh to me. I prefer Romeo y juliets or Acids if I want something really sweet.

I have cuban cohiba siglo VI's and siglo III's in my humidor. The draw is above average as is the body and the burn, but people shouldn't expect to be blown away just because it's cuban. My favorite cigar is a cohiba XV, which is not cuban. I also have cuban montecristo #1's, and they are a better smoke than the siglo VI's, but they don't have the cache with the business executives when entertaining.

Cigars are just like wine. It's easy to get caught up in french versus napa and high priced wine versus moderately priced wine. In the end, I recommend people try a wide variety and pick what you like. It's even better is you are unaware of the price, so you aren't subconsciously swayed. Unobtanium cigars like cubans are typically special just because they are hard to get. I used to smoke arturo fuente and davidoff primarily because they were highly rated thus expensive. I don't anymore because for my taste, there are a lot better cigars out there. One of my biggest disappointments in cigars was Opus X cigars. I had been smoking cigars for a couple of years and had read of them, but they are very hard to get and very, very expensive. I didn't like the first few. Finally, I found the Opus X 1992 Rare Estate Reserve robustos and those, I enjoy.
