Just ordered new exhaust for 05 R6

The below video is an 06 but just wanted to share the visual and audio. In speaking to the MPRP rep they will customize it to fit over the 2" diameter of the 05 header. There will be some modifications i will have to make to lower the header out about an inch but mounting (if needed) will be the tricky part. I will post up picks as i receive it and as it goes on mod by mod incase any of you are interested.

they dont make but a few short style slip-ons for the '05 model.

The HR RIOT pipe is too loud... (the only one i know that is designed for the '05) and the other megaphones types i've seen are ugly and sound like . Everything else is mid and high mount.

shorty slip-ons are mainly designed for the '06+ bikes for Yamahas.

There are tons of folks removing the highmounts on these old bikes and modifying the header to install the STOCK '06+ cans. I'd rather have a real can upgrade (short).

If you take off the header you should be able to heat the bend and stand on it to angle the trailing tube(intermediate) down

I would mess that up CaligoneTx.

I was thinking more or less a device as such:
I really only need it to go down about an inch.
This bracket would actually help clear the swingarm and the rearset.

Good frickin luck! lol

I bought a GYTR shorty, that needed "minor" modifications for my 05 R6. Ended up with this nightmare!
http://www.motohouston.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=59284

Of course, I am not as mechanically inclined as u may be. Either way, ended up just sloppily welding the .

With the exception of the weld, it looks good. Loud though. You can see it in this picture.

THe biggest problem came in when I got it all on and it was clean. Then someone mentioned that it might scrape with too much lean angle and I TRIPPED!!! lol

So I had to do some cutting, welding, heating, bending, hammering etc.

Good luck. They do look clean when finished.

Thanks

Yup, in your linked thread you posted a pic of how it should look and from the looks of it, that pipe on the blue R6 appears to be the HR1 which is the installation style im gonna try to achieve. I will trim down the mid-pipe just enough to get it clamped real well and try to avoid a rearset mount all together (asking a lot i know) but i'm gonna give a shot.

if you look at the video i linked, the mid-pipe looks like it has about 5 inches to it, theres plenty of trim down room there. Gonna take a little work...

That HR 1 pipe and MBRP pipe are pretty similar so it shouldn't be off by much. i'll try to post back when its complete.

IF NOT IT WILL BE IN THE FOR SALE SECTION

IMHO, buy a complete system. Or nothing.
I don't see the point in this mod.
I mean it doesn't have any neon or anything.

lets see, considering the short slip-on for the 05 model is very minimal to none:

1. it's short (that means no high\mid mount) since you cant seem to "see the point"
2. carbon fiber
3. way louder
4. $400 as opposed to $800-$1200
5. appearance.....I like it.
6. Aren't most mods Exhaust?
7. NEON..?....LMAO (WTF?)...

IMHO, provide a constructive post.
I don't see the point in your reply....

I like my modded 06 gsxr 600 can. Doesn't stick out and it's as easy to remove/swap as the stocker.

WOW, I like that! Looks great bro!

First time ive seen one like this! hahaha!

how does it sound?

I dont really mind the can that sticks out, i'm just not fond of the highly visable midpipe. So shortening it, should finalize it for me. I do like the sound of it though.

Nice job on your exhaust, BTW!

Nice bike, if you take off the midpipe to get it jet coated you should consider pulling the rearsets and doing them too, I think it would look excellent

I love the '05 Ravens, here's mine:

Thanks bro, Bruce is a stand up dude too. What sucks is, you can't ride while you're waiting to get the rearsets done You can always throw the old exhaust back on while doing the midpipe.
