I am guessing that the TPS isn't working right. But since it is free to take it to the shop, then by all means take it to the shop.

Just because the bike is new, doesn't mean the battery wasn't manufactured a couple years ago, right? Cold weather effects batteries all of the time. How often do you ride the bike and do you take a lot of short trips?

Other than that, maybe someone decided to screw with you and turned your idle adjustment screw all the way....doubt it, though.

The new gixxers don't have an adjustable idle. Plus it's fuel injected.... no idle adjust screw, right?

You are correct that bike does not have an idle screw, BUT some fuel injected bikes do have them. The older GSXR had idle screws, the busas do my SV does, that just some of them I know off the top of my head.
