Question Building a Stunt Ready Fiddy

Is it even practical to build a stunted fiddy/of-the-like from scratch? I don't mind the labor/experience at all -- just interested in a project for the winter. Does it cost just as much building a stunt ready or buying a brand new crf50 at the dealer (plus bars/street tires/springs, etc.)?

Input is greatly appreciated!

I've built both of mine.... and depending on what kind of connections you have... it can cost the same...

I just always recommend finding a used 50 that belonged to some little kid (convince the partents that the kid was pretty rough on it)... get if for a couple hundred less than normal and then start there...

bars are about $150
pegs are about $35
tires can range from $20-$50
plastic/graphic can go from $60-$100

but I would try not to put more than a grand or 1200 into it... cause it's hard to get that back out of it...

I browsed all the 50 forums last night and it seems most have custom built fiddies. Thought it be more fun building one and not having to pay 800-1k all at once, but gradually pay for it.

building is fun just gotta look for the deals

and sometimes the little bolts and parts can be a pain ... thats why buying a cheap stocker and then upgrading is easier

So I kinda steered it from a stunt ready fiddy to an all-around mini bike that 'tis stuntable.

Anyone ever bought from www.pitserpro.com? Not really the bikes, but products? If not, any other recommendations?

You're right.

I wanted to use their 90cc motor and a billetware frame, then the cheaper mods & used stocks to try and match it. I didn't come close. But yes, that is what I was aiming for! I might actually buy it.

WOOHOO good topic!

OK here's my opinion if you want a top of the line badazz 50......

Build your own from scratch. I'm talking buy everything separate, motor, frame, forks, wheels, bigseat, plastics/graphics, big bars, everything. Theres literally hundreds of websites that carry everything for 50s, cheap or pricy. When people buy a brand new stock 50, like me, they end up tearing it down and replacing almost everything but the dang frame. Then you have a bunch of stock 50 that noone needs/wants. Motors are cheap, frames are cheap everything is cheap, but beware...you CAN nickle and dime yourself broke if you don't watch what you order. For around 2K (you could go cheaper though, way cheaper) you could have a custom well-built 50 that's going to last. Instead of buying a stock 50 and ordering 1K worth of upgrades. And you get the experience of building a 50, it seems fun if you ask me.

Buy a stock used crf or xr 50 and spend a few hundred on bars, pegs, street tires, and whatever else you want. U dont have to have much to stunt a 50.. Really bigbars and tires are all you need to get started.. thats not a huge investment.. Then just add as you progress

I've been lurking on all these fiddy websites:
planetminis.com
xr50.com
50stunt.com
hondacrf50.com
ssrmotorsports.com
pitserpro.com
mxdeals.com
crf50.com
fasttimemotox.com

Hooligan, that's what I might do! Make a top of the line 50 and maybe take it to the Katy track as well. I'm just having trouble taking that first step -- to buy a used crf50 or from scratch.

I'm just lookin' for the right deal now on an exceptional frame or fiddy.

I hear ya

Sounds like you have done some research, thats good. I would plan everything out and have everything picked out before you pull the trigger and start ordering. I will defenitialy be doing this for my next 50. I mean when it comes down to a couple hundred here and there...its worth it

Oh and don't forget to store it someplace safe, dont be like me and get it stolen a month after you get it (I got it back though)
