+1, but race pace is typically about 2s faster then track day pace for me. During practice, I was running 24-25's out there, then in the race was doing 23's and a few 22's

I run 25's on an SV there, just a bit faster on my '03 GSXR sixxer (around 23's).

As mentioned, you're not "still slow" just because you aren't running CMRA novice times, race pace with those folks is nothing like track days pace (unless you're at an LSTD event in the "A" group).

Just like folks who are "fast" on the street, it's doesn't mean they're "fast" at the track day; those that are "fast" at a track day doesn't mean they'll be "fast" at a race

No doubt James has gained a ton of speed this year, especially when he did a couple 1:46's at TWS (Texas World Speedway)...as a novice.
