2005 GSX-R 1000 (track)

2009 BMW s1000rr

So check it out, this is BMW's new liter bike they're going to compete with for the 2009 World SBK season. They will only make a 1000 of the new literbikes for 2009 to meet the hemologation requirement for the production based class. There's no exacts on what the cost will be, however will not compete with those of japanese production based bikes.

The bike is going to have several features that will be unique to the s1000rr including; Traction control (and ABS for the street version) is part of the equation, as is Íhlins suspension and a conventional twin-spar aluminum chassis and an inverted fork, as well as throttle-by-wire actuation and variable-length intake snorkels. There is also some talk of some pretty tricked out changes to the cylinder head.

Troy Corser and Ruben Xaus will mount the s1000rr for the 2009 world SBK season.

Yes I am aware of that Some people I have been speaking with were not even aware that BMW was producing a liter bike for superbike competition. So I thought I'd post about.

Well I no longer care to buy it now. I want control of the throttle not a computer. Sticking with the Gixxer 1000 they stay true to the rider keeping the rider in control with better feel.

BMW,
Almost the same performance for only twice the price.
They make nice touring/dual sport bikes though.
