Crashing.......

We have all heard it...."There are 2 types of riders :Those who have been down :Those who are going down"

I was wondering if I was the only person on this site that thinks "I'm going to crash one day, maybe even today or this weekend" But what gets me is, I don't mind- it dosnt phase me or stop me from riding hard.

Now I don't commute, I rarely ride the street anymore, but when a friend of mine is looking to buy their first sportbike (that has little to no motorcycle experience) I ussually say something like "buy a used bike cuz your gunna trash it anyway" not saying he's going to wreck, well maybe I am. Are you aware of how many people crash on sportbikes? I would bet more then half the people reading this thread had crashed, including myself. Am I the only person that thinks that eventually your going down?? No matter how safe a rider you are, how much seat time you have or years under your belt....do you think about it?

I think about it; I just try to hope that when I do go down, I'll be able to walk away from it.

i don't believe every rider will go down. I am very aware that it is very possible and am on constant alert while riding to prevent the possible.

I commute to work about twice a week and ride after work everyday unless theres rain. I think about it and i know its bound to happen sometime. Thats what keeps me wearing my gear everytime i ride.

I think its a matter of time. If you ride for 2 years and don't go down, that's good, you got lucky.

I can name only 1 person who I ride with regularly that has not been down, and I ride with lots.

I agree that just about every rider will go down at some point especially if you ride track! Crashing is a part of riding! But what bothers me is when people crash A LOT! That is when I begin to wonder about their riding skills not only do they become a damger to themselves but to the others that ride with them!

I dont ride street any more, but every time i ride out on the track i know i could crash. I really dont care if i do at this point because crash happens at the track. I just feel that much better at the end of the day if i dont crash.

I rode for 5 months incident free and I was never worried about wrecking. I knew it was possible but I felt completely confident in myself and my bike.

The night that I wrecked was completely different. I felt uneasy before we started riding and while we were riding I just knew that I was going down on that ride, but for some strange reason it didn't even bother me so I didn't slow down.

well I ride with the belief that it's if but when i'm goin down. With any luck it will be at a slow speed and with NO cars around. I did drop mine making a turn my second time out in the streets.

I've had numerous crashes on a fiddy, dirtbikes, and quads -- all minor and able to hop back onto again. Eventually, yes, I expect to crash on the streets and I try to prepare for it (i.e. seat time, gear).
