led lights

Ok so what is the consensus on adding color led lights? From the threads that I searched some people say that they dont really help you stand out more at night? True?

I am asking cause I like them and the ex bf is freaking cause I bought an all black bike and he is afraid that I wont be seen riding at night and have a higher chance of getting hurt.

What lights are better to use I have seen pod kinds and it looks like there are several different patterns. Also have seen the rope looking kind.

If you have them can you post pictures of your bikes and what kind of lights you have.

Thanks

IMO ... yes they do help some to make you stand out. makes people turn their heads.
I recommend the Electro Pods set, its a good all around set for a sport bike.
I have that on my bike ...

But it sometimes depends on the color. And you have to remember the more lights the drain you put on your battery. But from wat i noticed blue shows up the best. But it's all depends on wat color goes best. like blue lights on a yellow. NO BENO..lol

Drain? Are you kidding. LED's cause almost no draw from your bike battery. I have left my led's on overnight on multiple occasions b accident and never had an issue starting up the bike the next day.

have you tried reflectors?

i have a strip of 3m reflective sticker on both sides of my frame. it's about 1 1/2 inch by 6 inches and really stands out in traffic, i am told.
also, i have a big strip of the same 3m sticker on the back of my helmet that glows like a halogen light at night.
reflective rim stripes are also very visible and look cool.
in my opinion, led lighting like electro pods, looks gaudy.
i have considered getting tireflys, but it would probably look pretty bad.

In answer to your question....

Yes you will be seen a lot better at night!!! (See avatar) hehe

LED's have virtually no draw on a 12 volt battery. At 26 miliamps per hour you shouldn't have any problem leaving you light on for hours at a time.

Green is absolutly the brightest color, then blue. The rest run about the same brightness.

NEO.....I wouldn't sugest pink at all. Any off colors like pink and teal and purple just aren't bright at all and there is no consistancy in the lights themselves. I have a few pink lites at the house if you would like me to demo it for ya.

PM me and we'll hook up and you can check out some of my work.
