Turn Signals And Insurance?

Ok, so on one of my other posts I mentioned I am trying to clean up the tail of my sv650 a bit. So now, I am faced with figuring out which turn signals to get.

A lot of the nice LED turn signals are not DOT approved, and the only one I found is $100 bucks for the pair. I heard that sometimes insurance companies might use the fact that you didn't have DOT approved turn signals to get out of paying for your bike in an accident.

Has anyone had any experience or knowledge if that is true? The bike has full cover, and would hate to be in an accident and told, sorry, we wont cover because you didn't have DOT approved turn signals.

Maybe insurance folks can chime in...?

since turn signals are not even mandatory on motorcycles how could they deny you coverage in the event of an accident?

Look at all those custom bikes running around with no turn signals.

yep, not required for inspection, so i don't know how they could get out of paying for the bike as long as it was deemed "safe and legal" by the state...

I've never heard of insurance not covering due to integrated turn signal. And yes, my roomate has wrecked and claimed insurance more times than I can count.
