Angry Friend just wreck after 52 miles

Why dont people listen when they ask for advice? One of my best friends recently bought a bike, he asked what bike do i recomend for him. I tried really hard to try and get him to buy a small bike like a ninja or an sv but noooo he had to have an inline 600. For his first bike, hes never even rode any type of motorcycle or dirtbike. I tried to scare him out of it and told them how expensive they are to maintain and fix. So anyways everything i tried would not make him change his mind. So i help him get the bike he wanted because i figure if he will not chsnge his mind i should atleast help him save some money so he doesnt get raped at the dealership. So he picks it up yesterday morning on the northside brings it home last night. I tell him do not ride it or get on it till he gets atleast a helmet and his liscense. Well guess what he calls this morning told me he put 42 miles on it last night, while talking he says hes getting ready for work and then i realize the sound i hear in the back ground is the bike warming up, so i get and lecture him dont get on it. Well anyways we hang up about 10 min later i get a call from him and he sounds shaken up and hurt saying he just crashed and askin what to do. I almost went into the i told you so and start the chewing but i can tell hes already embarraresd cause hes calling me to tell me so i figure im gonna give it a few days till i start with the reeming. So this is what happened he said he was approaching a curve and the bike shut off, so he pulls in the clutch fires it back up lets out on the clutch and said the bike rips forward hitting the curb and thats all he could tell me. He said the from rim is broken and it broke off the tail fairing and sounds like the intake tube and stay is broken cause he said the front fairing is not straight. So im gonna go visit him sun to check things out and kick his sorry for the long story but just had to vent

All I can say, is I hope he learned his lesson and at least takes some sort of riders course. It could have been much worse.

Thats what happens when irresponsible people get ants in the pants to go ride around everywhere with little to no experience.

Hope your buddy is alright.

So an 08 CBR w/ 0 miles just "shut off" as he was heading towards a turn?

RIIIIIGGGHHHTT..

Sounds like he forgot to turn or couldn't initiate the turn. Either way, he is very lucky, glad he didn't get hurt, especially if he wasn't wearing a helmet. This will be a very expensive lesson for him. Probably would have happened if he was riding a 250 also.....bike engine size played no roll in this...

REALLY sucks to hear this. I hope he's okay and that he won't stop riding. You did the right thing by telling him what to get. It's not on you that he wrecked for not listening.

kill switch? I used to hit it accidentally; especially in a panic- which he probably was.
