Do we need the inspection sticker on our bikes?

Do any of you guys and gals know if the bikes need an inspection sticker? My bike has one on its own metal plate at the bottom of the license plate (see example below).

I am doing the fender eliminator on my sv, and was thinking of not using that little metal plate, but then I wouldn't have that blue inspection sticker. If it is required, is there a problem with putting it somewhere else on the bike, say near the swing arm, or just caring it around inside the back seat?

just has to be in proximity of the LP.

Im sure someone can pull the statute with the exact wording, or one of our LEOs can chime in.

I forgot to paste the image, and the site wouldn't let me edit anymore.

Ok, thanks, at least now I know I must keep it. Any one can confirm if it can be placed on the swing arm or anywhere that has a good distance from the LP?

+1, the law states "near the license plate". Put it anywhere else and you're just giving them a reason to pull you over.

Easy for me to say that when mine's in the under seat storage compartment right now............

I have mine setup almost exactly like that. I few changes I made were to trim that metal plate around the sticker so its only big enough for the sticker and doesnt have all that ugly lookin extra metal. I also bent it up so it is parallel with the ground almost. It has to be bent down JUST enough to the LEO can tell you have it from the real. That way when everyone else looks at your bike, it looks clean without a sticker but the LEO's will know its there. I have yet to be pulled over and Ive had it like this for 2 years in friendswood which has cops that are known to pull sportbikes over for anything everything and most of the time nothing.

I can get a pic if youd like, and i trimmed the plate with tin snips.

I had kinda the same setup as you originally and wanted to go with a more undertail look. I took the original aluminum plate, cut/trimmed it up and put the inspection stick out to the side allowing for more clearance above the fender.

they don't really need a reason to pull you over. sometimes they just want to make sure the bike isn't stolen. i don't mind so much. if someone was to steal my bike, i would hope THEY would get pulled over by a leo doing a stolen bike check. as long as you're cool with them you'll probably just get a warning. i'm amazed at how nice most of them are considering all the a-holes they must deal with daily.

Oh man, thanks for the pics, I kinda like it on the side, looks really clean. I'm gonna experiment a bit with the position on it, once I complete the fender eliminator metal.

Thanks.

BTW, that White/black color scheme is real nice.

That sucks that you didn't get off with a warning instead, since you had it.
