I have to admit .. coming from Europe I think it looks kinda cool when you go up the ramp and see nothing but sky

Houston highways are a lot better organized than other cities I've been too.

Also, you can think of the area highways like a clock.

Yes. There is an exit to Allen Pkwy coming from I-45S, it's just on the LEFT side of the freeway...

Yeah, the freeways look like a mess from the aerial view, and I kinda of hate the 45 fwy off ramp from the 610 on the left hand side (used to off ramps being on the right always), but there is one thing I really do love and hate. The u-turn under the freeway in the feeder road.

Hate going to Los Angeles, getting off the freeway, knowing I need to be heading out in the opposite direction, and have to be stuck at two lights in traffic to try and make a u-turn. That really sucks, and I drove there for a good number of years. Or take your pick, 5 mph freeway traffic, or 25 mph on the street with a light every 50 feet. Feeder road FTW.
