Wow. For a group that eviscerates people for not wearing gear, ya'll sure don't advocate starter bikes do you? "what ever you do avoid a katana."

Jesus....

Listen to this guy - he knows and is really trying to help you get a bike you can ride that won't kill you because it is hyper-sensitive to input like the R6, CBR and ZX series bikes are.

A Katana is everything he said.

BTW - I had a Kat 1100 and it was a great reliable bike I rode for 20k miles.

.. go read the sticky and do a search on recommended starter bikes.

Please do NOT try to start on a new sportsbike as your first bike.

Ideally a 250 or 500, or if you have to go 600...go with one of the olders ones. for a 600 I think the Katana would be a decent choice.

I had a Katana for my first bije, and it was great. It was very forgiving, plenty quick for starting out, comfortable, and fun.

Ummmmmm... if you say so... I ride with two of them all the time and I don't have a problem leaving them miles behind. One is an 08 and the other is an 07. My bike just rolled past 20k miles and is 7 years old and still can pull on them hard. F4i<FTW

conquer a bike....

, I couldnt never find the limits of a 250 on the track...

and most riding 600s plus on the street have been passed by a blue katana in the Woodlands.

egos aside, if you want to learn to RIDE the step up program is the best way to go.

I'm going to say this has more to do with additional skill as well as a strong disregard for personal safety as opposed to any superiority in the equipment.

That is, unless you're admitting to particpating in roll on races....
