Maybe somebody can fill me in on when Ben decided on WSBK over MotoGP? Or whatever events took place to put him there with Yamaha.

No room/support for a 3rd rider on Suzuki's factory team...

Did you see his times at the end of today's testing? On a bike he has never ridden, on tires he has never ridden, on a track he has never ridden, on a BRAND NEW BIKE, he was within 0.2 sec's of Haga's fast time in the race, and 0.4 sec's of Troy Bayliss' time who won one of the races there by over 7 seconds!!!

I believe this is the beginning of a BEAUTIFUL relationship!!!

Motogp teams didn't want to pay him his $20 million salary. And for one I don't think he did a good enough job of selling himself to the GP teams with his placements in the wildcard races he did. If wanting $20 million dollars a year he would need to beat the likes of Rossi and Stoner in the wildcard races right off the bat. I am all for Spies but he really wasn't that impressive in the races he ran in GP. AMA he dominated and I'm sure they were expecting the same results in the races he ran in GP.

According to some other people the $$ was not the issue. He wanted a FACTORY ride in GP and there were none left. I at first I was under the impression it was about the $$ but was admonished for it.

I'm pretty sure I'm safe to say either you have just started watching roadracing so you don't know much about it, or you're just clueless.

The position he placed as a wildcard were great considering his limited time on the bike, track, etc. I think may were surprised he did as good as he did...

2009 R1 is not a big bang engine.

Can't wait for next season. With all of the new liter bikes it is going to be awesome, hopefully.

I beg to differ,

Quote:
The 2009 Yamaha R1 has been officially unveiled by Yamaha, and as we predicted, it has a Yamaha M1-like big bang firing order. The first time a big bang engine has been used on a production bike, Yamaha is calling it “Crossplane Technology” and it puts each connecting rod 90º from the next, meaning the cylinders fire at 270°- 180°- 90°- 180°. This spreads out the power pulses to the rear tire, allowing it to regain traction in between each pulse. The result is more usable traction under large throttle openings, meaning riders will be able to accelerate out of corner earlier and harder. While the rest of the machine appears fairly conventional, that couldn’t be farther from the truth.
