nothing wrong with a cruiser. I had several over the years. alot slower and less manuverable. I got away from them cause they were killing my lower back.

If its a good deal then why not? At least go test ride it. I have ridden more than a few of them and they are decent bikes, I would ride one of those over most any Harley. Definitely less maneuverable than a sport bike, but that should be a pretty obvious given. I know I want to get a cruiser as well but I am holding out for this one:
2007 Kawasaki Vulcan 1600 Mean Streak 2w

That is the limited edition Kawi. It is the cruiser version of Forgottnsoul's bike. The guy looking at buying the house next to me has one. It is a BEAUTIFUL bike. It's also VERY heavy! I would ride it in a heartbeat. One day, when my bike has beat me up enough, I will buy a cruiser again. I have ridden the Vulcan 900 and it is a great bike. It's actually really cheap too. I believe it's around $7k-$8k new. Look into the VStar 100 also. You can pick one of those up with running boards, saddle bags and a windshield for around $9k.

Vulcan Mean Streak. Its 13k new, I have ridden 2 of them, and loved them. In comparison I have ridden everything that Victory makes just about, and rode a few Harleys. The Mean Streak feels nimble and fast compared to the others...My job had one of the special editions (though they did not have a flamed tank) and some tool bought it and laid it down within 15 feet of being on it.

Yeah the Mean Streak isn't cheap! The Mean Streak is also a 1600 if I'm not wrong. The regular 900 is the fairly cheap one. The guy I met said that his was WAY expensive. His originally had the Kawasaki sticker on the tank, but he's dumped a ton of money into it. He has custom paint, Hypercharger, grips, offsets, switchblade pegs, exhaust, neon, etc. He has around $18k into his so far.

The Mean Streak MSRPs at 13k, nothing like the 7.5k of the 900. You are right on the engine size as well, i think its supposed to be something like 85 hp and 110 ft/lbs, or somewhere close to that.

I actually like the older Vulcan 800s more than the 900s, The 800 has a more 500 sized chassis and is lighter than the 900, seems to be a bit smoother for some reason, and definitely handles and accelerates faster. Overall though I think Kawi has done really well with their cruisers.

Which one would cost you more? You already have a sport bike. Why not get the cruiser for those lazy weekends when you just want to putt around? I wish I had a cruiser for work. I ride around 125 miles a day with work, and sometimes it gets a little cramped.

Are you RENTING a bike from him or BUYING? I don't think I would want to make payments on a stunt bike. I would also find out what his payments are. $200/month is a little much unless he didn't put much down or has a hig interest rate. I was originally looking at a Yamaha R6, and with $1,500.00 down, my note would have been around $100.00/month. Either way.... which one feels better to you? I love both the Kawi Vulcan 900 and the GSXR 600, but if I already had a sport bike, I'd go for the Vulcan. Just my $.02.

But ultimately, you're going to OWN one of them, right? Do this........... Give him the $600. Ride the GSXR for 1 1/2 months, then ride the Vulcan for the other 1 1/2. At that time, decide which one you don't want to part with.
