you use lemon/citrus products to help remove the wax so the sticker can grab the plastics.

I hope you're not exposing the plastic paint and removing the film from any wax you had established over the paint. If you want to strip it and rewax, kewl... the paint under the wax should be pretty shiney...
This stuff just has a lemon smell, it's not an active ingredient like in goo gone.

Should you wash it to get the dirt off first, or can you just use Lemon Pledge as your cleaning agent?

no, it'll make the dirt clods shiny-er, and smell better.

I've been using Pledge lemon on my bikes for 10+yrs.....never a problem. Works great for a full bike clean up. Ofcourse I still wax em both couple times a month but the Pledge leaves a pretty good shine on them with no haze.....Works better then Pro Honda IMOP which requires more buffing to get the smears out, more buffing = more swirls.

Something else to try for extra bling bling shine is Turtlewax's new ICE wax. Its a clear liquid and it goes on wet, doesn't really dry or even haze, you just put it on, let it sit a few mins, then take it off and it looks like an extra layer of clear coat just got shot on the paint. The ICE isn't worth a for cleaning off bugs or removing scratches so its true "wax" capability isn't that good but if you just want your to shine like a after you have washed, clayed, waxed with your other stuff, slap this on there and get ready to bling. Also you can put it on everything, even the black plastic pieces, mirrors etc, it leaves no white residue on anything, leaves everything shiney....

"NOOB DISCLAIMER"

Do not put on your tires.....

PLEXIS is the chit!!!! We used it in the Marine Corps to clean windscreens on our Harriers and just about anything else we needed to clean. Wish I still had a case like I kept stashed away when I was in the Corps.
