Thumbs up A video lap at MSRH

http://aratidwell.net/sanchez/msrhouston.wmv

This is just a bit more than a full lap at MSRH to give you an idea of the lay out. Mike Sanchez at the controls so study up. Enjoy and hope to see you all at the track!!! Here's a bit more specific info for those who need it......

Track Day Guidelines

REQUIRED SAFETY GEAR
Full face DOT approved helmet w. face shield
Full leathers, two piece must have a full zipper
Gauntlet style (above the wrist) gloves
Boots at least 6” above the ankle
A back protector is HIGHLY recommended.

BIKE REQUIREMENTS
Bike must be clean and free of any fluid leaks
All light lenses must be taped. Brake light must be completely blacked out
Suggest removal of turn signals and license plate
Throttle must be self closing upon release
Fully functioning front and rear brakes
Tires in good shape

OTHER SUGGESTIONS

Check your tires!!!!! No plugs, patches, or excessive wear. Street or race compound is up to you, most nov and int. will do fine on street compounds as long as you don’t push it too hard. No squared off tires!!! Check you air pressure and remember you will be running lower pressures on the track vs. street. Check with tire mfg for recommendations for your specific brand. Usually 28-32 front 22-26 rear cold. Do not run what it reads on the sidewall or you'll probably find yourself looking up from the ground.

Check your chain tension and adjust properly according to mfg recommendations.

Check your suspension for proper static and rider sag. There will be people to help you with this at the track, but you’d rather be riding than wrenching.

Highly recommend changing your oil beforehand. Your bike will be working harder than normal so do it a favor and get some fresh oil in it.
While you’re down there, be sure to check your oil drain plug and make sure it’s tight, as well as your filter. We would LOVE to see your drain plug and filter safety wired, but do not require it. Oil on the track will not help you win friends.

Check your coolant level and top off as necessary. Be sure not to over fill as coolant overflow is just as dangerous as oil on the track.

Do a through once over on your whole bike to check for loose fasteners, wiring, or fairing bits. We want you to leave the track with everything you came with. Your bike will be at very high RPM’s for most of the day and things will vibrate loose.

Lastly, be sure to bring your common sense!!! There are no trophies handed out at the end of the day. This is designed to give you the opportunity to see what your sport bike was built to do. Your bike is capable of many things you may not be ready for. Ease into the speed zone slowly. The old racer motto of “going slow to go fast” is very wise advice. Learn the nuances of the track before you let it all out. Track days are not cheap and I can tell you from personal experience crashing makes it ten times more expensive. I know if my race bike hits the ground it will cost AT LEAST 500.00. And I run some ugly bodywork, not the OEM pretty bling bling. A good bit of common sense will save you money and the humiliation of being the guy who held everyone up.

Common courtesy goes hand in hand with common sense. Riding over your head affects other riders, so keep that in mind. Most riders/racers are fun friendly types, so check your ego and attitudes at the gate, we’ll hold them for you until you are ready to go home. There is always going to be someone faster than you, so just accept it and get on with enjoying YOUR track time.

If you need any further help or have some specific questions not covered, ASK!!!! I can be reached at 281-216-1619 for further assistance. I look forward to seeing you all on the track. Knee down, on the gas……

Mike was on a '01 F4i running race tires. He hasen't really pushed for a true fast lap yet and I've got him a 2:44's and some change. I venture to guess it will take mid :30's for a win there.

It just HAD to be an 01 F4i huh? ... now I've got some serious laptime to live up to. Atleast I can use the "I'm on street tires and stock suspension" scapegoat. :laughing6

Man, that track looks badass though... I can't wait to run it next year.

NEWS FLASH................ John Haner is going to join us!!! If you've never seen this guys ride you've missed an experience. Haner and Sanchez are two of the most talented riders around. Haner recently took second at the Toyota 200 riding for Attack Kawasaki, and just returned from running the Macau GP in China for Roadracing World. These are also two of the best instructors you'll find. Both present material in easy to grasp terms and they are fun to learn from. Definately worth the price of admission.
