i have painted a a bunch of my helmets... if it's done correctly i don't see how it can affect the integrity of it... clearcoat and paint (factory) when it's removed doesn't make the helmet material 'weaker'

here are the last two that i painted... and am actually in the process of working on a HJC Diablo

well... i say that because think about it...

TROY LEE
has made millions from painting helmets! and I am sure that someone has wrecked wearing at least one of his helmets... and if anyone ever thought that because it was painted that it didn't hold up as well... he would have already had his sued plenty of times....

just my .02

google is you friend
quit being lazy
http://www.msf-usa.org/downloads/helmet_CSI.pdf

Troy Lee paints mainly GRP composite helmets and those that aren't I would guess are applied using solvent free paints!!

having said that I think some of the newer poly helmets are solvent "proof"

WOW...!!! Nice job...!!! How much it cost to paint a helmet like the blue one..???

I have a NOLAN (modular) helmet in yellow and will like to paint it blue.

if you can't paint helmets due to solvents, I wonder if waterborne paints solve that problem?

You CAN paint the better helmets like Shoei, Arai, (I think Suomy) and maybe some others. The cheap polycarbonate plastic helmets will melt from the solvents.
