Question Front Suspension????

ok, i asked about the rear, now the guy I am dealing with has offered this info on the fronts. You guys no better than me, so give me your input. I will have it done by one of the locals, so dont tell me to call them. I will when its time to build. All can chime in. Patrick you too! lol I do have copies of his Ducati certification, I do not plan on letting him build it, but the parts. What is a reasonable offer assuming this is worth it.

my bike was an 04 also. the fork kit i have is the best kit traxxion offered at the time. they did not have the "drop in" AK-20's at the time i built this bike. the fork kit comes with:
-new springs (.95)
-new damper springs
-new compression valves
-new rebound valves
-new machined aluminum spring collars
-new molded plastic spacers and washers, which go inside the springs.

its a really nice kit and pretty much replaces everything important inside the fork. it worked very well for me and made a huge difference. the shim stacks & valves are custom built and tuned by traxxion. i paid $844 for the kit with installation.
i am a factory certified Ducati mechanic. i went to school at the American Motorcycle Institute in 1999-2000 in Daytona Beach florida. i received a ducati factory tech certification. i worked for a ducati, suzuki, triumph dealer in orlando for a year and then came home to the suburbs of philadelphia. i have a close relationship with Fast by Ferracci which is right near my house. Ferracci sponsered and helped me and my partner with our racing. i raced CCS from 2004-2007. i was a part time mechanic for nate kern who runs a BMW in CCS and Moto ST endurance racing for two seasons. i worked for Team Pro-Motion sportbike club as a mechanic for one year. at TPM i built track/race bikes and built and serviced forks for customers. we used GP suspension products, but i prefer the traxxion stuff for myself. i have been a police officer here in PA for eight years but motorcycles and racing is usually where my mind is at. i build and service bikes at my house for friends when i have time.
i am very familiar with the installation of this kit. i serviced mine and my partners during our racing. i would be happy to install this kit for you if you would like for an extra $100 plus the shipping. i would send you all the stock internals back and use maxium fork oil as recommended by traxxion. i have attached the traxxion receipt, copies of my certifications, and pics of the parts. make me an offer for the kit if your interested. thanks, dave.

$100 is cheaper than you can buy all those parts for, just for giggles see if he'll do $100 for all those parts shipped.

I guess what i don't understand is, is he including the actual forks, or just the internals? I'm guessing since he's only asking $100 it's just for the internals.

Sounds like he wants yu to ship your forks to him he'll rebuild them for 100.00 and then ship them back. He will also send you OE parts back to.

Dean have you priced any other kits to see if this price is a good deal?
The parts listed are used?idk

If he's shipping the parts to you and you're having them installed, $100 is cheaper than you can buy them new. At the cheapest, the parts would cost about $200 new + labor, and $200 is more likely on the very low end of the price scale.

Tom, the guy said, "Make me an offer for the kit and for $100 extra plus shipping I will install it for you and send the OEM parts back."

Yeah, I was saying that he should offer him $100 for the parts only. I guess I wasn't clear enough on that.

Parts alone will cost ~$200 for the front end rebuild + labor, so $100 for the parts alone in used condition would be fair.

$844 for the kit? No labor? I don't think the AK20's cost more than that!

I paid Billy Weise ~$800 for a complete rebuild on my '03 GSXR forks in '06 which included the cartridge work, springs and install!

Eff that, stick with your local vendors and get them to build with their parts.

pass on that deal......

if they don't have ak20's or ohlins fork cartridge kit available for your year, you might wanna look into getting an 05-06' front end since i know 100% they make ak20's and ohlins cartridge kit for it. plus you get the inverted style forks also.
