anyone have a dr-z 400?

i just rode one tonight. it was a 2006 s model and it seemed mechanically great, but the chain was rusty and the seat had no foam (short kid). the thing that surprised me though were the ergos. it felt really weird to ride it. i have never ridden a dirt bike or a dual purpose, so this was a first for me. will it feel as normal as my sv feels to me or is it going to always be strange?
also, the bike had something like 2500 on the odo. the current owner only had put 230something on the bike, and hadnt reset the trip odo. the only thing aftermarket that i saw was a yoshimura exhaust. dude wants $3600 for it. i think i could talk him down to 3000, sinply because if my bike sells this week, that is what i will have to buy his bike, which he seems to really want to sell.

does motohouston think this is a good idea?

and also, how difficult would it be to convert this thing to a supermoto?

I've got an SM and really like it.
You can put a bit different bend of bar on it if you don't like the high dirt bike bar.

I ride both an SV and the DRZ and other then the seat being narrow on the DRZ (I took care of that courtesy of Renazco) it's pretty comfortable.

Converting it to an SM is pretty easy: a Baja kit, 17" wheels, tires and some brakes and you're there.

I've got soem 17" Excels off my DRZ as well as a stock SM handlebar.
If you're interestred, give me a call at the shop.

Check out here for a good resource on DRZ tech: www.thumpertalk.com

thanks guys
i first wanted the sm, but then i got to thinking of how fun it would be to just ride to a dirtbike park and play there and ride back. lol

if i wind up getting the dr-z 400s i'll be interested in picking up some wheels. that would probably have to wait until spring though.

+1 to Patrick's comments. I came from an SV and love the DRZ. Wheels can be had pretty cheap on supermotojunkie.com

I used to have the E model, great bike but a bit heavy for me in the dirt. The E model comes with the FCR carb and is easy to DS. + 1 for thumpertalk, they know DRZ's
