A) Welcome to the site!

B) 600 for a first bike - bad idea

C) lowering your first bike - bad idea

D) Take the BRC BEFORE you buy the bike. You'd be amazed how many people realize that they purchased the wrong bike while they're taking the course.

PS
When's your bday?

I grew up on 3 and 4 wheelers too but they are not the same. Just understand the bigger cc bike you get the WORSE the outcome when you make little mistakes....which YOU WILL MAKE. Plus its HEAVY...if it starts to lean...you better have some straight to catch it before it goes all the way down...and you can't get it up.

Both my parents ride so I took my learning real slow for the first 2 months riding with only them. Make sure no one pushes you...and you feel comfortable on the bike at all times...if not get off and take a break til you relax. I'm totally in love with my bike and riding...especially with my friends but I never pretend to be "better" than I am. Everyone know's I'm Granny-Joy!

Sorry I know its a lot but I'm probably the newest person that was standing in your shoes not long ago....so I just wanted to share my experience.

Good luck find a bike...keep us posted!
Sorry for the late reply y'all..
I had a couple meetings and just got back to my desk...
Nice 2 meet ya Gixxer-JOY! NO girl, trust me I appreciate all the advice and tips I can get from everyone, that will help a bunch! And to know there are alot of girl riders out there too! and Trust me, I will be a Granny Rider too when I first start out.. haha. Yeah I'm starting to feel nervous about all this too! But I will definitely keep y'all posted! Thanks

Welcome to the gang! And welcome to the world of sports bikes: your life will never be the same and nor will your wallet!

Take the MSF course, get the M class on your license, and don't buy anything bigger than a 600. I had a CBR600 as my first bike and its funny to say it now, but at the time it scared the out of me until I got used to the power!

Stay off the freeways when they're at there busiest. Get up early on Sunday mornings and get out of town onto some quiet back roads. Ride with those that respect your level of ability - watch the others take risks. And when you're up to it, take a Novice class at Texas Track Days after 6 months (great instruction for newbies) - no cars, trucks, trees, or walls - the track is a great way to learn about your bike and how to control it with the guidance of an instructor and with less risk than learning on the road.

Good luck and ride safe!
