When you look at the pic of the van, there is NO WAY he/she didn't notice they hit someone! Sad! His family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

"We do have the driver in custody right now," a Harris County sheriff's deputy said.

Arana is charged with failure to stop and render aid. A conviction carries between two and 10 years in prison, and a fine up to $10,000.

Not enough justice....

I feel deeply saddened for the family. The hardest thing in the world is to be a good parent watching your kids grow up, trying to make the right decisions without holding them by the hand like a 5 year old. I'm certain that they felt their son was responsible enough to ride to school, knowing the dangers that followed him daily.

The unfortunate thing is that this asswipe that took his life will end up with a slap on the hand before this is all said and done. It would be worth a day's pay for us to make an appearance in full gear in the court room when the shitbag has a court appearance. The statement would be quite clear to the driver, judge, DA, the riding community and especially to the family.

My son goes to Highschool with this Kid at Klein Oak HighSchool and he will be getting the kids last name and other details tomorrow in school. He says he knew him and chatted with the kid often at school. My Son rides a KTM 125cc and was wearing a Fox T-shirt at school one day and that is how he met this guy...... They had something in common just like we all do. A very somber day in my house as I try and comfort my 15 year old and explain to him how quickly people we know can be gone just like that..

Only other info I have is the Kid did ride to school often and always wore a Jacket and Helmet

Be safe out there !!

R.I.P.

When this case goes to trial I'd be up for going as well.

It really me off the way people hit and run motorcyclists regularly and only receive a slap on the wrist. We see it all the time with customers at the shop and I've had it done to me twice in 28 years of riding.
